Dr. Sharad K. Pradhan is working as Director, THDC-Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology, Tehri, Govt of Uttrakhand. Earlier he was a Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Dean, Corporate & International Relations and Associate Director, of NITTTR Bhopal-Siemens Center of Excellence at the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal under the aegis of the Government of India.

He did his Ph.D. from the Mechanical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, India and before joining NITTTR Bhopal he was a Scientist in ‘Design & Simulation Group’ at ‘Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute’ (CMERI), Durgapur, (WB), India. After serving in this research lab for 4 years he joined NITTTR, Bhopal as a Reader in 2003 and became a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 2014.

He has coordinated and organized more than 300 short-term courses and workshops for Technical teachers of Polytechnic and Engineering colleges of our country in ‘Content-based areas’ like Industry 4.0, Finite Element Methods, Computer Aided Design and Analysis, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Applied Mechanics, Engineering Graphics and ‘Technical Education based areas’ like Outcome-based Education, Rubrics, Accreditation, Outcome-based Curriculum, Basic and Advanced Teaching Methods, Student Evaluation and Assessment, Modern Lab Practices, etc.

He is a member of the NBA Evaluation Team for Accreditation of Mechanical Engineering UG Programs. He has developed an Outcome Based Curriculum for four states of the country for Diplomas and Post diplomas in Mechanical Engineering and allied disciplines. He has developed many Modules, Handouts, Exercise books, Presentations and Videos on different topics related to Mechanical Engineering, Technical Education (NITTT-AICTE MOOCs) and Accreditation for UG/PG programs (SWAYAM-MOOCs).

His research contributions include Finite element model updating, Structural dynamic design, Optimization of machining parameters, Simulation of Manufacturing Processes, Robotics and Additive Manufacturing. He has a number of published papers to his credit, one book on Engineering Graphics with two upcoming books on ‘Finite Element Method’ and ‘Production Technology’. He has published four patents and completed a DST-funded project ‘Development of a Multifunctional Scavenging Vehicle for Indian Railway Tracks’. He is a consistent learner and is motivated to contribute to the world of knowledge.

The institute is 74 kilometers away from Jolly-Grant Airport Dehradun, 85 kilometers away from Rishikesh, 104.8 kilometers away from Haridwar, and 110.7 kilometers from Dehradun city.
